Tennessee Democrats know they face an uphill battle to win three U.S. House seats from the Republicans on Tuesday but they hope to lay the groundwork for future gains.

In District 7, they're targeting undecided suburban voters as Democrat Justin Kanew faces Republican Mark Green. Kanew is a film producer and former "Amazing Race" contestant who favors policies such as expanding Medicaid. Green is a state senator and former Army doctor who helped block Republican Gov. Bill Haslam's Medicaid expansion plan.

Patricia Linder is the kind of undecided voter Democrats are looking for. She has voted Republican but she was receptive when volunteers talked about Kanew.

Two other House seats in solidly Republican districts also are open in Tennessee. The GOP predicts a sweep, but Democrats hope to make inroads.
