A community came together to remember four children killed in a house fire in Springfield.

However, of all the stories being told, one of the most moving was that of the children's father who sacrificed himself for his children.

Family told Julian Pope's story and how he threw his body on top of his 8 year old daughter in order to save her from the fire.

He suffered burns on 40 percent of his body.

"He threw himself over her not knowing if he was going to be able to get out. He's a father. He's a protector. He wanted to cover his daughter to make sure that she would be okay," said Tiffany Hawkins.

The funeral for all four children was set for Saturday at Springfield Baptist Church at 2 p.m.
