NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A shooting death in March has been ruled a homicide after police originally reported it as an accident.
Officials said they’re investigating the death of 19-year-old Craig Lambert on March 30 as a homicide.
According to original witness reports, Lambert was petting a cat when he dropped a pistol he was carrying in Hadley Park.
The reports went on to say he grabbed the gun, hit the trigger, and caused the pistol to discharge.
Authorities have said the autopsy results and other evidence cast doubt on that original story, disproving the claim of an accidental shooting.
Detectives said the investigation was ongoing, and efforts were underway to locate the suspect who was believed to be outside of the Middle Tennessee area. That suspect’s identity has not been released.
