A father will be not charged in the fatal shooting of his 18-year-old son in Donelson, police said.

The incident happened around 12:30 p.m. Sunday outside a home in the 2800 block of Branwood Drive.

Details on the shooting were limited, but Metro Nashville Police had confirmed it involved 55-year-old Brentnol James and his 18-year-old son, Kobe Hoyle.

Officials said the two got into an argument that turned physical. That led to James suffering an injury to his face. It's alleged he then fatally shot Hoyle who passed away at the scene.

Detectives said they are continuing to investigate James' account that he was in fear of Hoyle and his claim that Hoyle was going to rob him.
