A former store employee was charged with robbery after taking more than $35,000 worth of watches and cash from his workplace.

Officials with the Metro Nashville Police Department said surveillance video caught 53-year-old Peter Gore breaking into the Smart Buys at Rivergate Mall Saturday around 9:30 p.m.

Gore was fired from Smart Buys at the Rivergate Mall in March and banned from the property for life. Police said Gore went back to the store with bad intentions.

Video apparently showed Gore pulling into the parking lot and entering the store after it was closed and locked up at 9 p.m. He still had a key to the business and the safe that he failed to return when he was fired.

Police said he emptied the petty cash box and the safe.

Stolen were over $13,000 in cash, a men’s Rolex 18k Yacht-Master watch valued at $16,000, and a women’s silver Rolex Oyster Perpetual watch worth $6,000.

In all, police said Gore took over $35,000 worth of items and cash.

Police were able to identify Gore from the surveillance video and take him into custody. He was booked into the Davidson County Criminal Justice Center on charges of theft and burglary.

Bond was set at $40,000. He was scheduled to appear before a judge on June 1.
