The former Greenbrier Police Chief has been charged with child rape.
Former Chief, Kevin Richards, turned himself in to authorities Tuesday, and was booked and released on bond.
Richards worked with the city of Greenbrier for 20 years and filled in as chief for a short time.
Greenbrier's current police chief said the allegations were surprising, but they worked the case like they would any other.
Richards left Greenbrier's force in 2015 and went to work for the state.
