NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A former Warren County teacher, who was convicted of having sex with a student, has been arrested on felony charges after she and two others allegedly tried to get cell phones into prison.
Officials with the Tennessee Department of Correction said Pamela Rogers was arrested Tuesday at her home in Clarkrange, Tennessee.
In February, agents began investigating after several cell phones were found inside a package being mailed to Max Luttrell Correctional Complex in Memphis.
TDOC officials said Rogers and two current inmates, Candice McCarter and Billie Joe Carden, allegedly worked together to bring cell phones into the prison.
In May, all three were indicted on five counts of felony introduction of contraband into a state penal facility.
Rogers was taken to Memphis where she was held on a $50,000 bond. McCarter and Carden were served with felony warrants and were being held in Memphis without bond.
Rogers was released from prison in 2012 after serving more than six years for sexual battery by an authority figure and exploitation of a minor. She was convicted of having a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old at Centertown Elementary School.
