FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (AP) -- Army officials said Colonel David "Buck" Dellinger would be relinquishing command of U.S. Army Garrison Fort Campbell to incoming commander Colonel James R. Salome next week.
The Leaf-Chronicle reported a ceremony was set to take place at 10:30 a.m. June 18 in front of the Garrison Headquarters. Dellinger has served as garrison commander of Fort Campbell since 2012 and has decided to retire from the U.S. Army after more than 25 years of service.
Colonel Salome, a Clarksboro, New Jersey, native and graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, was coming to Fort Campbell from the Army Forces Command in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, where he served as Director for the FORSCOM Commander's Initiatives Group.
Salome previously served at Fort Campbell as Battalion and BCT S3 in 2nd BCT, 101st Airborne Division.
