The Dogs In Harmony rescue animal shelter in Franklin County was damaged by strong winds when severe weather hit Middle Tennessee Tuesday.
The shelter houses more than fifty dogs. Much of the damage was to the back of the property, but thankfully none of the dogs were injured. “If there were dogs in there, if I wasn’t home we would’ve lost some dogs I’m sure,” owner, Lila Trivisonno said.
Trivisonno said the barn and many of the large kennels were damaged by strong winds. Thankfully, she was able to get all of the dogs indoors just in time. “Some of them ran into crates, some into corners. It’s like they knew something not good was about to happen,” she said.
It costs about $40,000 a year to keep the shelter up and running. She also relies on volunteers, donations and one employee to keep the property in good condition. Trivisonno said, so far, Dogs in Harmony has a 100 percent adoption rate.
However, she hasn't survived the storm alone, community members rushed to help raise money to make repairs.
Lila created a gofundme page for anyone wanting to help the shelter.
