The city of Franklin made changes to its traffic pattern to accommodate the tens of thousands of music fans that are expected to be in town for the Pilgrimage Festival.
The northbound lane of Franklin road is expected to be shut down throughout the weekend starting at 6 a.m. Saturday and will be used for pedestrians and bicyclists. Traffic moving south through the area will be allowed.
A weekend jam-packed with dozens of artists expected to take the stage at the Pilgrimage festival, 25-thousand people will descend on The Park at Harlinsdale Farm, and the city Mayor said he welcomes those concert goers with open arms.
"Well it does a lot of things for Franklin, from creating great exposure to one of the best towns of America," said Franklin Mayor Ken Moore.
Mayor Moore said, not only is the festival entertaining, but it also helps Franklin finically.
"It also is a significant economic boost for our city and our restaurants, hotels, gas stations and our downtown shopping," said Moore.
On Thursday, crews were still setting up for the big weekend, where Justin Timberlake is scheduled to take the stage Saturday night. Yet, with all of the guests expected to flood into Franklin, the city has made some changes to traffic.
There will be free parking on the street, and at the two parking garages downtown. People can also park at Liberty Elementary and be shuttled over to Harlinsdale Farm.
