Fort Campbell soldiers spent time at Vanderbilt University to learn about portable equipment they can use in the field.
The soldiers are part of the Engineering Battalion with the Rakkasans of the 101st Airborne Division.
Thursday, they worked to learn more about using things like 3D printers or laser cutters that will allow them to to quickly create work-arounds in the field.
They say the lessons they've learned also decrease the amount of weight a soldier has to carry in the field.
