FTC shuts down four operations for making robocalls

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The Federal Trade Commission just shut down four operations for making robocalls and taking your hard-earned money.

The FTC just won four cases against fake operations and it all started with people filing complaints about them. Some of these may sound familiar, too.

One pretended to be with a fake charity called "Veterans for America," asking for donations that would benefit our military.

The second was against "Point Break Media," which threatened small business owners, saying they'd take their name off of Google.

Another is "Net Dot Solutions," which is accused of providing auto-dialers to place billions of illegal robocalls and the fourth one is with "Higher Goal Marketing," where a group started a credit-card debt relief scheme.

The common theme with all of them is trying to scam people out of cash.

While you can still expect to get these annoying calls, it is step in the right direction. If you do want to file a complaint with the FTC about a frequent robocaller you can do so.
