FRANKLIN, Tenn. – A fundraiser has been planned to help the family of a teenager who was struck and killed by a train in Williamson County.
Beginning at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Chuy’s in Cool Springs plans to raise money in honor of David “Junior” Hernandez, who was a bus boy at the location.
All tips and 10 percent of food purchases will go to his family. According to the marketing manager, they hope to at least raise $500.
Hernandez was struck and killed on May 28 in a secluded area north of Liberty Pike in Franklin, near the Bell Historic Franklin Apartments.
Officials believed Hernandez, who had stereo ear buds on, did not hear the train coming, and it was unable to stop in time.
He was a 17-year-old student at Centennial High School.
