NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Funeral Services for former Tennessee State University President, James Hefner, have been set and released.
Hefner passed away last Thursday morning after a long illness. The Public viewing will take place Wednesday, September 2, from noon to 4:00 p.m. at the Robert E. Lewis Memorial Chapel on Clarksville Pike in Nashville.
Dr. Hefner’s body will lie in state later that evening in Poag Auditorium in the Humanities Building on the Tennessee State University campus from 5 p.m. - 6:15 p.m. with a memorial service immediately afterwards beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Family visitation was set for Thursday, September 3, at noon with services to follow at Christ Church Cathedral, 900 Broadway in downtown Nashville, Tennessee.
The State Flag and the TSU flag at Tennessee State University flew at half-staff, in honor of Hefner. The flags will remain lowered until Thursday, after his burial. His memorial service was set for Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at T-S-U's Davis Humanities Building.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested requested memorial gifts be made to the Dr. James A. Hefner Scholarship Foundation in his honor to the Tennessee State University or Morehouse College Development Offices.
