The pumps at three different gas stations were cut off after the state received formal complaints about the fuel quality.

It wasn’t clear exactly why they were shut down or what kind of problem they posed, but it was possible the fuel may have damaged customers' vehicles.

A Department of Agriculture spokesperson said the shutdown at three MapCo locations was a precaution.

The locations were the Mapco along Wilma Rudolph Boulevard in Clarksville, Highway 109 in Lebanon, and the 3000 block of Nolensville Pike in Nashville.

Officials urged anyone with questions about fuel quality to call 1-800-OCTANE-1 to file a complaint.
