Hamilton County man charged with murder, linked to remains found on Benton Mountain

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WTVF) — A man has been arrested in connection with a murder that occurred in Hamilton County in October of 2018.

Askia Witherow, 39, has been charged with the murder of 26-year-old Jacob Dakota Moore.

TBI Agents began investigating the crime when the remains of Moore were located by hunters on Benton Mountain in the Reliance community.

Joint efforts by TBI and the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office let to the arrest of Witherow in Georgia on Thursday night The suspect was an acquaintance of the victim.

Witherow has been charged with First Degree Murder, one count of Especially Aggravated Burglary, four counts of Especially Aggravated Robbery, one count of Kidnapping, four counts of False Imprisonment, and four counts of Interference with an Emergency Call.

Witherow has been booked into the Catoosa County Jail in Georgia without bond, pending extradition to Tennessee.

This investigation is ongoing.
