Helicopter Tours Proposed In Goodlettsville

A Goodlettsville business owner has proposed plans to give helicopter tours of Nashville, but not everyone was in favor for it.

Recently, neighbors received notice about a proposed helicopter landing pad just off I-65 and the Springfield highway.

The city said the business owner planned to use just one helicopter to provide tours for visitors bused from Nashville.

The proposal involved tours Monday through Friday during the day, but not on weekends. Yet, some neighbors are not on board.

"A helicopter is not a good business for this type of area. I don't think it's right. It should be more in a tourist area," said neighbor Jim Christatos.

"Here, we are moving out away from Nashville for the rural area so I don't think people expect noise from helicopters and I think that would negatively effect our value," said Julie Gurel, Woodwyn Hills HOA president and realtor.

We reached out to the business owner behind the idea, but he declined to comment.

A public hearing was set for Sept.12.
