and last updated

The number of homeless people living on the streets of Nashville has risen.

In the last year, the homeless population has increased by about 10 percent.

The Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency gathered the stats for a nationwide survey by using a method they call a "Point in Time Count."

Last year, the number of homeless was around 2,000. This year, that number is more than 2,300.

A count for next year's number will begin in a few weeks.
