NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A home owner in a Hermitage neighborhood trapped a would-be thief from stealing a trailer out of his neighbor’s drive way.
Police said the resident of Netherlands Drive noticed an unfamiliar pickup truck back into his neighbor’s driveway and start to steal a utility trailer.
That’s when he quickly trapped the truck in the driveway with his own vehicle, and held one of the suspects, 40-year-old Marty Ray Harris, at gunpoint.
There were two other suspects at the home who ran away. The resident told police that one of them started to run back toward him, but quickly changed paths after the resident fired a warning shot.
When officers they found the resident still holding Harris at gunpoint. He admitted to police that he was trying to steal the trailer for money to support his heroin habit.
He was jailed in lieu of $10,000 bond on charges of felony attempted theft and misdemeanor vandalism.
