Homeowners reportedly catch garage on fire while trying to jump-start a car

FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WTVF) — A house fire in Franklin was started when the homeowners tried to jump-start a vehicle in the driveway.

Franklin Fire Department Investigator Will Farris a neighbor reported hearing several loud explosions then saw two vehicles engulfed in flames at the home on Ashton Park Boulevard Monday morning. The flames quickly spread to the garage which was connected by a breezeway to the house.

Firefighters responded to the home and were able to contain the fire to the garage, keeping it from damaging the rest of the home.

The homeowners were inside at the time but were able to get out safely.

Farris estimated the damage to be about $70,000 to the two vehicles and home, valued at $520,000.
