HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. – A teen has died after allegedly being hit by a piece of equipment at a football field.
Authorities said the incident happened at a practice field at Hopkinsville Middle School before 4 p.m. Thursday.
Officials identified the teen as 17-year-old Jayvon Corey Quarles. The cause of death was listed as blunt force trauma.
Police said Quarles was helping move a heavy piece of metal football equipment when it accidentally fell and hit him in the head.
He was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Those with the Hopkinsville Police Department Detective Section said the investigation was ongoing.
