As Hurricane Harvey crept closer to Texas' Gulf coast, people in Middle Tennessee are expected to be impacted at the gas pumps.
Nearly half of U.S. refining capacity sits on the U.S. Gulf Coast; nearly one-third of it appeared to be in Harvey's path.
"Tennessee gas stations are supplied by pipelines, many of which come from the Gulf Coast," said Stephanie Milani, Tennessee Public Affairs Director, AAA - The Auto Club Group.
Experts said prices could surge from 10-30 cents in the Mid-State by the next 2-3 weeks.
"If it goes up a little bit, I think we're doing OK. We can afford to pay a little bit more because of gas prices has been down," said resident Wilma Williams.
"My local church here sent out a text saying hey if you have family in these areas tell them to fill up with gas," resident Reggie Ellis said.
Most Tennessee pumps receive gas from the Colonial pipeline which starts in Houston.
Gas was flowing normally as of Friday and there was a plan to keep it running over the weekend.
