Incident Shuts Down Portion Of I-40W In Nashville

The westbound lanes of Interstate 40 have been closed at Stewart's Ferry Pike near the Nashville airport.

Officials with the Metro Nashville Police Department said officers responded to someone who jumped from the Elm Hill Pike bridge onto the interstate.

The victim died from the fall.

Emergency officials responded to the scene around 7 p.m.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation expected the road to be reopened by 11 p.m.

Drivers in the westbound lanes have been rerouted.
