Two Coffee County deputies who were shot by an inmate at the courthouse are now “feeling better,” officials said.
Wade Bassett and Wendell Bowen were shot on June 19 by an armed escaped inmate, identified as 37-year-old Michael Bell.
Bell had been in the courthouse for a scheduled hearing on charges of domestic-related kidnapping and evading arrest.
Bassett was hit in the hand and arm, while Bowen had a bullet lodged in his spine. Both have been recovering ever since.
Sheriff’s officials posted a photo of the two men together and said they’re "feeling better."
