An inmate who escaped from a work crew on South Ridge in Southern Giles County has been captured.
James Michael Hicks Jr., age 30, allegedly walked away from a litter pick up crew. He was serving time for various drug charges and an aggravated assault.
The sheriff’s office deployed additional officials to that area, and a manhunt got underway. A warrant for escape was issued for Hicks.
Authorities said they caught him just 20 minutes from the Alabama state line.
