Inmate Walks Away From Work Detail At West Tenn. Prison

TIPTONVILLE, Tenn. – An inmate was taken into custody after walking away from work detail at a West Tennessee prison.

According to officials with the Tennessee Department of Correction, minimum custody inmate Richard Roberts walked away from work detail outside the Northwest Correctional Complex in Tiptonville Wednesday afternoon.

Several hours later he and his alleged accomplice, Rachel McMilliam, were found near a lodge in Murray, Kentucky.

Both were taken into custody and were expected to be booked into the Calloway County Jail, pending extradition to Tennessee.

Roberts was charged with felony escape, while McMillan was charged with facilitation of an escape.

Tiptonville is located about two hours away from Memphis in the far northwest corner of the state.
