NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — An employee with the Internal Revenue Service has been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of theft and fraud.

According to the Department of Justice, 47-year-old Tracey R. Allison, of Antioch, was indicted on five counts of wire fraud, five counts of aggravated identity theft and theft of government property.

Allison was working for the IRS at its Franklin office when she allegedly faked military duty orders in order to receive paid leave from her employer.

Investigators said Allison was discharged from the U.S. Army Reserve in August 2012 and enlisted in the Tennessee National Guard on July 5, 2018.

She’s accused of regularly submitting forms used by the Department of the Army to record reserve duty and receive payment while she worked for the IRS.

The indictment said each form had the forged signature and Department of Defense identification number of Allison’s former commanding officer, who was actually retired and stopped supervising Allison in 2013.

Allison allegedly submitted 70 fraudulent forms and collected paid military leave and other benefits totaling $22,864.24.

If convicted, she faces up to 20 years in prison for each count of wire fraud, up to 10 years in prison for theft of government property, a mandatory minimum of two years in prison for each count of aggravated identity theft and a $250,000 fine.
