Jenny Gill shares her name with one of the biggest Country Music icons of all-time, Vince Gill, and that's because Vince is her father.

Surrounded by music from the day she was born, Jenny was raised by Vince and her mom, Janis Oliver of the duo Sweethearts of the Rodeo.

"They're a big part of who I am. I wouldn't be here without them," Gill said.

Now Gill, who lives in Nashville, is happily married with a son, and after years of performing, she released her first EP.

"Because my family was so good in this business and I spent so much time watching them thrive, it's only natural that I'd want to follow in their footsteps," Gill explained.

But for Gill, there was always that fear in the back of her mind that people would compare her to her parents, something she was concerned about until she had her son, Wyatt.

Starring in her first music video, Wyatt was the inspiration for putting out Gill's first EP titled "The House Sessions," wanting him to feel the same pride Jenny feels for her parents.

"I want him to understand that if you have a passion, you might have to work really, really hard for it, but it's worth it," Gill said.

The EP recorded at her father's house and produced by him is compromised of six songs, five of which Gill co-wrote.

"I didn't want to release a full-length record that felt like it had some filler songs in it here and there," Gill explained. "I just wanted to put out what i thought was the best."

Not specific to any genre, there are sounds from Americana, Country, the Blues. "It's chill, it's throwback, it's something you want to put on in the background, maybe have a glass of wine," Gill said, adding that for her, it's her first step in following her dream. "Releasing this EP, I've never been more motivated to write more songs. I'm constantly writing and writing, trying to get better at my craft."

This music has allowed Gill to define herself, rather than be defined by her past. "Everybody has a story. Being Vince Gill's daughter and being Janis Oliver's daughter, that's just my story," Gill said. "If you're not any good, it's not gonna matter what your story is."

Gill's album is available for download online and through iTunes, as well as on streaming services.

Gill is set to perform with a show on Wednesday, April 19 at 3rd and Lindsley with The Sisterhood. Tickets are available online.
