BOWLING GREEN, Kent. (TENN) — Kentucky State Police have confirmed that an officer was shot in the early morning hours of Saturday in Bowling Green.
According to police, Glasgow officer Zane Greer and Barren County Deputy Joseph Ford were in the process of arresting Jonathon D. Shelton, 37, of Smyrna, when an altercation ensued.
During the altercation, Deputy Ford was shot one time.
He was first take to TJ Sampson Hospital but was later taken to the University of Louisville hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Shelton was arrested following the shooting and is being charged with one count of Assault 1st degree (police officer), one count of Assault 3rd degree (police officer), three counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st degree (police officer) and several traffic related charged that were issued by the Glasgow Police Department.
