FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVF) — Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear announced 625 additional cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed on Tuesday. An additional 14 deaths related to the novel coronavirus were reported Tuesday.

While this is the highest daily total of cases reported in Kentucky so far, 309 are from the testing at Green River Correctional Facility in Muhlenberg County. All inmates and staff at the facility were tested last week. The state is still waiting on the results of about 50 tests from the facility.
Two inmates at the facility died in April and another inmate died over the weekend, likely due to COVID-19.
One inmate and one staff member are currently in ICU.
Gov. Beshear said he hopes to announce plans on Phase II of reopening Kentucky soon. He said he is hopeful it will begin in June.
Since the outbreak began, Kentucky has seen a total of 5,822 positive COVID-19 cases and 275 related deaths. There have been 61,013 tests administered.
