An investigation got underway after a Metro Nashville police officer accidentally discharged his firearm while responding to a domestic violence call.
Police said Officer Nick Diamond was called to a residence on Dickerson Pike around 3:30 a.m. Friday.

They said when Diamond arrived, he was concerned about what he was hearing so he made forced entry into the home. At that time, his gun discharged and struck a couch.
No one was hurt.

Police said they had been called to the same home back in May but no charges were issues then.
The investigation remained ongoing.
Police said accidental discharges are evaluated on a case-by-case basis when no one gets hurt. As a result, Diamond wouldn't immediately be placed on administrative duty.
