Legislatures Hold Mement Of Silence For Shults

Posted

A moment of silence at the Tennessee state capitol for a local couple killed in the terror attack in Belgium.

Senator Doug Overbey from Maryville led the moment of silence and prayed during Monday’s legislative hearings for the family and friends of Justin and Stephanie Shults.

The two Vanderbilt graduates last lived in Nashville before moving to Belgium in 2014.

Stephanie hailed from Kentucky, while Justin's family lives in East Tennessee.

“Mr. Speaker the war on terrorism goes on. It is with us every day, and even though this attack occurred across the Atlantic Ocean in the nation of Belgium, it affects us here at home in the capitol of Tennessee, across the state of Tennessee, and in Gatlinburg, Tennessee,” said Sen. Overbey.

Justin and Stephanie Shults were among at least 31 people killed during the terrorist attacks in Belgium last week.
