1 Arrested, 2 Wanted In Violent Carjacking

Two suspects were being sought and another was in custody following a violent carjacking. The two who remained on the run have been considered armed and dangerous by police in Franklin.

The crime happened around 2:30 a.m. Thursday on Cherokee Place.

Officials said the victim was reportedly sitting in the front seat of her vehicle when three men pulled her from her vehicle and physically assaulted her before stealing her car.

Authorities confirmed at least one of the suspects was armed with a handgun. Reports stated the stolen car had since been recovered.

A convicted felon, identified as 31-year-old Barry Durene Harris, of Franklin, was taken into custody Thursday. He was charged with aggravated robbery and remained jailed on a $50,000 bond.

Harris has been scheduled to appear in court at 1 p.m. on August 10.

Two other suspects, identified as 24-year-old Dejon Gullatt and 52-year-old Dewayne Harris, both of Franklin, were still being sought by police.

Dewayne Harris was described as a convicted felon on parole “with a violent and lengthy history.”
