One man has been taken into custody after an attempted break-in at a local store.

The incident happened just before 3 a.m. Friday at Lee’s Market in the 300 block of 17th Avenue North.

According to a sergeant with the Metro Nashville Police Department, the suspect broke a light by the front door and a drive-thru window, and they added he attempted to get in through a storage area but was unsuccessful.

Officers received the call in the early morning hours from a witness who gave a play by play until authorities arrived. Police said they credit that witness and added they were thankful for the help.

Authorities were able to arrive on scene ten minutes later and spot the suspect walking around a corner.

The suspect, whose identity had not been released, was able to take cigarettes, but he did not get away with anything else since he couldn’t fit through the broken window.. Officials said he had three screwdrivers and a wrench.
