Police confirmed a man was shot in the leg behind a hotel in Wilson County.
The incident happened before 9 a.m. Saturday at the Travel Inn in the 900 block of Murfreesboro Road.
When officers responded to the scene they found 27-year-old Brady Bowden with a gunshot wound to his leg in the back parking lot.
Bowden was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries. Saturday afternoon, authorities confirmed Bowden was recovering from surgery and was in stable condition.
Witnesses told police the victim had been in a confrontation during the night with other hotel guests over loud music.
Saturday morning, a black male suspect allegedly approached Bowden as he was walking through the parking lot. The suspect fired several shots at Bowden, striking him in the leg.
After speaking with witnesses and looking at surveillance video, officers were able to arrest 20-year-old Alex Jamarl Stewart, of Whites Creek.
Stewart was identified as the shooter. He was taken to the Wilson County Jail and charged with aggravated assault.
