Authorities have arrested two people who have been charged in an early morning home invasion.
The incident happened around 1:40 a.m. Wednesday at a home in the 900 block of Calvert Drive in Montgomery County.
Deputies with the sheriff’s office went to the home after they received reports of someone forcefully entering and firing a gun.
The victim said a female he recognized and an unknown man kicked in his door and accused him of stealing from them.
The male suspect, identified as 38-year-old Joshua Overton, allegedly fired a handgun when the victim reached for his phone to call 911.
The victim was not injured during the incident.
Overton told the victim to drop the phone before he fled with the female, identified as 24-year-old Courtney Jones.
A sergeant who was headed to the home recognized the suspect’s vehicle and stopped it taking the two suspects into custody.
A shell casing was recovered from the scene, and a gun matching the caliber of the shell was found in the suspect’s vehicle.
Overton was charged with aggravated burglary and reckless endangerment. His bond has been set at
$30,000.
Authorities said Jones was charged with aggravated burglary, unlawful drug paraphernalia, and simple drug possession. The last two charges were due to outstanding warrants that were on file. Her bond was set at $33,000.
