Two people have been taken into custody after a string of grocery store robberies in multiple states.

Officials said they arrested Monray Vontez Johnson and Christie Spears/Bates. They have also identified an inmate who was involved, but that suspect’s identity had not yet been released.

The investigation was a joint effort between police from Smyrna, Nashville, and Franklin.

Authorities said Johnson had confessed to robberies committed in Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, and attempted robberies in Georgia.

Police added Johnson had not confessed to a robbery that happened at the Publix in Smyrna, but officials said they had a name in that robbery and were working to bring that person into custody.

According to reports, Spears/Bates was the driver involved in the robberies. No further details had been released.
