Authorities Work To ID Baby Found In SUV After Chase

Authorities are working to identify a baby who was found inside an SUV after a cross-chase ended in Williamson County.

Officials blocked Arno Road near South Carothers Road, which is where the chase ended after 1 p.m. Thursday.

The pursuit started in Lewisburg after 38-year-old Wallace M. Duncan and 28-year-old Tanova K. Ewing both of Lewisburg tried to flee from Marshall County authorities.

Duncan was wanted on aggravated robbery and kidnapping charges in Sullivan County.

Marshall County law enforcement chased the pair until Williamson County officials took over they crossed the county line on I-65.

Officials there said they were able to stop the vehicle, a 2001 Ford Expedition, with a spike strip. The vehicle traveled a bit further before going off the right side of the roadway and crossing back over the road to come to a stop on the left side.

Ewing was driving at the time, while Wallace was in the passenger seat. They also had a 9-month-old in the vehicle.
Deputies said they’re working to identify the baby and locate his parents.

No one was injured in the crash.

Ewing has been charged with due care, no proof of insurance, lane law, and no seatbelt.

It was unclear if Wallace was wearing a seatbelt, but reports confirmed the 9-month-old was using a restraint.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol, Williamson County. Sheriff's Office and Franklin Police Department worked the case once in Williamson County

Duncan was expected to face additional charges in Williamson County.  Ewing, who drove the fleeing vehicle, also faced charges related to the pursuit.
