Officials in Rutherford County responded to a wreck involving three vehicles on Interstate 24.
The crash happened around 4:30 p.m. Sunday in the eastbound lanes between mile markers 76 and 78 on the interstate.
Authorities confirmed a female victim was originally taken to Saint Thomas Rutherford, but LifeFlight was called in to transfer her to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
A 6-year-old child was also injured and was taken to the hospital by LifeFlight.
The extent of their injuries was unknown.
The investigation was ongoing by those with the Tennessee Highway Patrol. No further details were available.
