The search for a gunman got underway Thursday night after two people were hurt in a shooting in north Nashville.

The incident happened around 8 p.m. at a home at 1413 Wheless Street.

Officers with Metro Nashville Police said a man and woman were shot inside the home. The man was shot in buttocks and leg, while the woman was hit in the leg.

Both were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in critical but stable condition.

Officers said there was no sign of forced entry or drug activity in the home.

The suspect fled down a nearby alley, and officers said they didn't take anything from the home.

It was unclear what kind of relationship the suspect had with the victims.

The suspect was described as a black man in his early to mid-20s with long dreads in ponytail wearing a black hoodie and black pants.

Officers searched for the suspect with the K9 unit and by air.
