Two teenagers have been accused of making threats against Stratford High School.
Officials with Metro Nashville Police said two boys, ages 14 and 15, were arrested overnight after being suspected of threatening violence against the school.
A citizen called police Tuesday night after seeing a concerning post in an online chat room. Additional details of the alleged threat were not released.
Officers later identified the two as two Stratford High School students.
They were questioned and reportedly told investigators they were not serious and that the post was just a joke. They were charged in Juvenile Court with making a false report.
Metro Nashville Public Schools released the following statement:
"We are grateful once again for the strong relationship we have with Metro Police and the coordinated response to incidents like these. Student and staff safety are priority number one, and we agree with Police: threats like these are not a joke.
Everyone – young people, their parents and the broader community – needs to know that all threats will be treated as if they are real, whether or not they were intended to be taken seriously. This type of behavior will not be tolerated. Students who choose to behave in this way will be disciplined appropriately at school and will likely face criminal charges, as the two from Stratford are today."
