As the St. Jude Rock 'n' Roll Nashville Marathon weekend wrapped up, some of the city's youngest runners were in the spotlight.

More than 3,500 kids participated in "Kids Rock" at Nissan Stadium.

Kids in kindergarten through 7th grade ran the final mile of a cumulative kid's marathon training program.

Spectators were there cheering them on, and they had a great time. The kids told NewsChannel 5 they had to remember the correct way to breathe while running. Some also said they started running, then turned to walking, while others said the hills were the hardest part.

Race times were moved up, and the time between races was shortened due to the threat of severe weather; however, participation was still strong.
