The effort to renovate Fannie Mae Dees Park captured the heart of a young child.
Alex Angus, age 4, raised more than $400 to help the cause to restore a mosaic dragon.
The youngster asked each of his neighbors and friends for a “dollar for the dragon” over several months. He even sent out letters asking for help.
The check for $441.31 was given to members of the Hillsboro/West End neighborhood association.
The park has been commonly known to locals as "Dragon Park."
