A death investigation has gotten underway in Madison after a 55-year-old was found dead.

The incident happened around 3 a.m. Friday at a home on Randy Road.

According to reports, a 19-year-old boyfriend of the 55-year-old male who lived in the home called 911.

Police said the 19-year-old claimed there had been a fight between the two of them, and he stated the 55-year-old's body was blocking the door to the bedroom so the 19-year-old couldn’t get out.

Authorities responded to the scene and forced their way through the front door.

They found the 55-year-old dead, but said there was no sign of any injuries.

Officials said there was evidence of drug use in the home, and the 19-year-old appeared to be under the influence. He was taken to the hospital to be evaluated.

The victim's cause of death was unknown. Police said they were processing the scene, and an autopsy was pending.

"It could be a drug overdose, it could be natural causes, or it could be something more," said Don Aaron, Spokesperson for the Metro Police Department.

Multiple neighbors said the homeowner was polite, but kept to himself.  They were surprised to see police arrive at the home.

No identities were released as the investigation remained ongoing.
