A suspect has been taken into custody after he was shot several times while allegedly trying to rob someone at a south Nashville motel.

Officials with Metro police said 33-year-old Kevin Hunt was shot on December 9 after his intended victim pulled a gun on him.

The incident was reported at the Thrifty Inn on Harding Place.

Hunt allegedly walked up to the victim and demanded money. Police said Hunt pistol-whipped the victim and his gun fired.

At that point, the alleged victim pulled out his own gun and shot Hunt multiple times.

He was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he remained for nearly a week. He was booked into the Metro jail Monday night.

Hunt has been charged with aggravated robbery. His bail was set at $50,000.

Police said they also found an undisclosed amount of drugs in the hotel room in which he was staying.
