An Amber Alert has been canceled after a 12-year-old Cookeville boy was found safe.
The alert had been issued on behalf of the Cookeville Police Department Steven Merriman.
Steven was last seen with his noncustodial mother Sheila D Randolph. Officials said Shelia took the child from school in Cookeville around 3:14 p.m.
Cookeville police said she entered the building unnoticed as students were dismissing for the day.
According to investigators, she never displayed a weapon or threatened anyone. None of the other students were in danger.
A warrant was issued for custodial interference for Shelia Randolph.
