Authorities with the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed an arrest has been made in the 2003 disappearance and murder of a Cedar Hill woman.

Friday, officials said Clinton Eugene Peden had been indicted in the disappearance of his wife, Teresa Peden.

Clinton Peden has been charged with first degree murder and conspiracy to commit first degree murder.

According to reports, Clinton Peden had been connected to a separate crime in which evidence was discovered that he had allegedly raped a 16-year-old female. That information was initially discovered by his wife, Teresa.

Detectives said Teresa had planned to turn Clinton in to authorities, and they added they believe that was the motivation for her murder.

Clinton was indicted in August for the rape while the murder investigation was ongoing. The evidence for the murder charge was presented in September.

“Our detectives worked diligently and tirelessly to bring justice for Teresa and her family,” said Sheriff Bill Holt. “This shows our commitment to justice and continued effort to ensure those responsible face the consequences for their actions. I am proud of the work by our team.”

Reports stated Teresa’s body was found in July 2006, three years after her disappearance. Authorities confirmed she was stabbed to death.

Clinton was taken into custody Friday morning and booked into the Robertson County Detention Facility on a $500,000 bond.
