Arson has been named as the cause of two overnight fires in North Nashville.
Officials with the Nashville Fire Department said they were called to a home on St. Louis Street around 2:30 a.m. Thursday after a detached garage caught fire behind the residence.
They also found a mattress on fire just a couple hundred feet away.
Firefighters said the flames were large when they first arrived. At this point, they’ve said the fires were intentionally set to a shed and a car.
The Fire Marshal was called to the scene to investigate.
It's possible an ember traveled from the garage to the mattress but one fire captain said that's "highly unlikely."
The homeowners were there at the time but were not hurt. The fire did not spread to the home.
