A woman who was babysitting a 2-year-old was arrested after an officer spotted the child wandering outside.
According to an affidavit from Metro Nashville Police, an officer was responding to a domestic disturbance call when he found the child along 31st Avenue North.
He stopped to help and spent at least 20 minutes trying to find her parents.
Eventually a woman, identified as Angelica Odom, came out of a nearby home to claim the child.
Police said she told him she had taken pills and had fallen asleep. She claimed she had no idea how the little one got out.
According to detectives, she did not know the child’s name. The living conditions inside her home were described as being “horrible.”
She was taken into custody and charged with neglect.
