With mosquito season just around the corner, preparations have gotten underway.
The Metro Public Health Department staff and volunteers hosted a backyard inspection day on Saturday.
Officials went door to door in the Woodbine, 12 South, and Melrose neighborhoods helping residents identify possible mosquito breeding grounds. They also showed them how to protect themselves from getting bitten.
The area was chosen because it has a history of mosquito problems. This was the 13th year for the event.
